Education - the future begins in the classroom

Education is the key to sustainable development.

That is why we build and support schools such as the Galana River School, where we are currently supporting up to 250 children - with a particular focus on early childhood education and promoting girls.

We also help to issue ID cards so that children can start school at all - an often overlooked but crucial component.

Health & basic medical care

Inpatient clinic: There is a lack of basic medical care, which is why a permanent clinic is to be built. It will provide basic medical care - including mother and child care, vaccination programs and emergency treatment.

Mobile clinic: In order to reach remote villages in Orma, we are setting up a mobile clinic. A converted truck brings medical staff directly to the people - for first aid, wound management and acute care.

Health education: Together with local community health workers, we impart knowledge on hygiene, women's health and disease prevention - as a sustainable building block for a healthier future.

Water, nutrition & livelihoods

MICODEP is committed to access to clean water, food security and sustainable livelihoods.

In cooperation with the communities, we build water reservoirs and simple filter systems.

At the same time, we promote local supply through projects in sustainable agriculture such as permaculture and soil-conserving cultivation.

Nutrition programs at our schools ensure regular, nutritious meals for children and thus create the basis for health and education - a decisive step towards strengthening the livelihoods of the Orma, whose traditional way of life is severely threatened by climate change and structural neglect.
